Sony Xperia E4 Hard Resetting Restore To Factory Default
Factory resetting a Sony Xperia X
There's different reasons that you might need to factory reset your Xperia X, so this guide shows you how to get it done.
A factory reset (also known as a hard reset) will wipe all the data and information from your phone, leaving it like it was when it was new. So that you don't lose anything, we'd recommend that you back it up first.
Method 1: My Xperia X is working fine, I just need to factory reset it
If you can still use your phone, then the quickest way to reset it is through the settings menu. Here's how:
Open Settings and go to Backup and reset.
Choose Factory data reset at the bottom.
Tap Reset device > Erase everything.
When the reset has finished, the phone will come on to its Setup screen.
Method 2: I'm locked out of my Xperia X, or it's not working properly
Using this method, the phone will get the latest 'firmware', as well as deleting all the information from it.
This method uses a computer to reset your phone, so you'll need to download Sony Xperia Companion software first, and then you can follow these steps:
Open the Xperia companion software.
Choose the option to repair a Phone or tablet.
Make sure your phone is at least 80% charged, then click Next.
Tick the box and then click Next.
Plug the Xperia X into the computer with a microUSB cable while pressing and holding the volume down button on the phone.
Tick the box to say you understand that data will be deleted, click Next, then Next again.
Method 3: I need to wipe my Xperia X remotely
Don't worry if it seems to be taking a while, it can take up to 30 minutes to finish. When it's done, the Xperia X will need setting up again.
If your phone is lost or stolen, you might want to delete the stuff from it remotely. To use this method, you need to have a Google account on the phone that's got 'Find my device' turned on. If it hasn't, then unfortunately you won't be able to do it that way.
Using Android Device Manager
Go to Android Device Manager.
Log in with your Google account details.
Choose your phone, then click Erase.
Confirm that's what you want to do by clicking Erase again.
Using the Sony 'Find my mobile' service
Go to Sony's Find My Device site.
Log in with your Google account details.
Choose Erase at the bottom.
With both of these methods, your phone will reset itself the next time it connects to the internet, even if it is turned off when you send the instruction..
