Astaghfirullah Wa Atubu Ilaih

Assalamualaikum.

Today the dua I am going to share with you is so powerful that it has been said by the Prophet (pbuh) to forgive a man of his sins. Allah would even forgive him if he had fled the battlefield fighting in the cause of Allah.

Subhanallah. For you to understand how powerful of a prayer this is there is a hadith about how turning your back in battle is on the same level as comitting shirk or riba:

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: “Avoid the seven sins that doom one to Hell.” It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, what are they?” He said: “Associating others with Allah (Shirk), magic, killing a soul whom Allah has forbidden killing, except in cases dictated by Islamic law, consuming Riba, consuming the property of orphans, fleeing on the day of the march (to battlefield), and slandering chaste women who never even think of anything touching their chastity and are good believers. ¹

This is a very powerful dhikr.

There are two variations you can recite:

(1) Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi; Astaghfirullaha wa atubu ilaihi (2) Astaghfir ullah-alladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Haiyul-Qayyumu, wa atubu ilaihi

Meaning Astaghfirullah Wa Atubu Ilaih

In Arabic the phrase Astaghfirullah wa atubu ilaih is written as:

أَسْـتَـغْـفِـرُ اللهَ وَ أَ تُـوبُ إِ لَـْيهِ

Meaning: I seek forgiveness to Allah and repent towards Him

It’s that simple, ask and you will receive. Allah if most forgiving and merciful. We just have to sincerely believe and be deliberate in asking Allah alone. For both something we are know that we did wrong or even that which you do not know of.
